About Wara

Wara with the award at That Takes the Cake Show 2017Wara is a mother of three beautiful children and has been a resident of Austin / Round Rock since 2005.   Her love of cooking has brought her to enroll in the Culinary Arts Program at Austin Community College (ACC).  For her, school is not just fun but also tasty.  She often brings home new and interesting dishes from school.  In 2015, she joined a group of ACC students  to attend a Summer Pastry Arts training program at ENSP- Ecole Nationale Superieure De Patisserie, Yssingeaux, France.  You can bet it was a wonderful time!

Originally from Thailand, Wara is able to blend the art of Thai cooking with what she has learned about western cooking.  She often comes up with food and deserts that bring the unique tastes of Thai food into western-style food, from cakes, custards, cookies, and ice creams, to barbecue, etc.   She is a regular guest chef at the Central Market Cooking School at North Lamar teaching Thai classes. Her Nutty Cranberry Toffee Chocolate Cookies won the first place award for the Tasting Competition at the That Takes the Cake 2017 Show in Round Rock, Texas.  Recently, she just won the first place and the second place in the tasting competition again for her Kaffir lime chiffon cake and taro cupcakes at at the That Takes the Cake 2018 Show.
